we sauntered around some new parts of town. checking out the lay of the land. just trying to say these words on that fluoro orange sign, in my head, sounds completely novel and unlike sounds my brain is used to constructing. but with dutch, sometimes it's really actually just like muddled english. in a way, 'voetsangers oversteken' sounds a little like 'foot-flippers over-step', like an instruction to take your feet and step them over (that way).
